I wished to give it a new try with the latest 18.04 version you have on SF.
The official specs are at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05682497
First, it can only boot if I choose noapic acpi=off on kernel loading
After that PinguyOS installed but...
All other distros I tried have different issues but all allowed me to define /boot/EFi on the existing EFI partition
Using Boot Repair was not an option hence it destroyed the Windows boot and I had to recover it later.
How can I solve this?

- This is a dual-boot system with MS Windows 10 and, hopefully, PinguyOS
- On laptop I have the following partitioning:
- EFI partition on SDD (where Windows has its EFI and where the /boot/EFI should be)
- MS Windows 10 partition (C:)
- /boot partition ext2 on SDD
- /partition ext4 on SDD
- MS Windows Users and data partition on HDD (D:)
- MS Windows Recovery HDD (E:)
- /home partition on HDD
- /var partition on HDD
First, it can only boot if I choose noapic acpi=off on kernel loading
After that PinguyOS installed but...
- On install the installer allowed me to define the EFI partition but didn't allowed me to set it as the place where /boot/EFI should be installed
- On boot it won't boot at all. I had to go to BIOS to start it from Windows EFI
All other distros I tried have different issues but all allowed me to define /boot/EFi on the existing EFI partition
Using Boot Repair was not an option hence it destroyed the Windows boot and I had to recover it later.
