No network connection

Hi, I downloaded and installed 12.04 and ran a live session to see if I liked it. I LOVE the interface and the feel of it, however, it tells me that there is no network connection available and I can not get on the internet. Do you have any ideas???? I've never run into this problem before with ANY distro I've tried so far
