Getting Pinguy installed onto older system.....

This is for the folks that have tried to put Pinguy onto the older Dells with the XP Pro.
I tried doing it with cd, no good, I tried to burn DVD's and load....no joy.
Then I realized that I had a old origional ISO I had burnt to disc to get my laptop up and going.
My Laptop is a dual boot, Pinguy w/ Win7. I transfered my ISO off my big 1TB external, onto the win7 side, along with usb installer from PenDriveLinux.
Next I got my Cruzer 16 gig usb stick, plugged her up, using the very last 'Install ISO' at the very end of the menu....since Pinguy 12.04 which is my ISO, and the Pinguy 12 seem not to like each other.

Anyway....I installed Pinguy on the USB, toggled over to Pinguy side, Where my login screen, I reboot, since I have my Bios set to read from USB to try out new ISO's and for Emengengy System Recovery should I need it.
If your ISO won't work reading from the USB doing it live....you don't wanna install it on your computer.

Fired the Dell up, some kind of security crap on the system kept me from loading thru the CD/DVD drive. I wiped it, reinstalled the system to get the system to get up on its feet, had to throw a bunch of drivers at it to get the screen res. set, hook up to the internet thru a ethernet cable, etc. Then I installed Pinguy from the USB.

Be doubley sure to formatt the USB even before install with the USB Installer, just to make sure everything is gone. Read about Viruses from China? Thats where sme of them hide....
Also, I don't know if its the NSA or some folks in general jacking around with the Torrent connections or a software problem, but I've had problems with the ISO's coming out bad. Do the checksum. Also, look at the size of the iso. If your download is smaller than what the File says....good chance its no-good.

Just to give you a taste of how things go....
Good system mounts that ran good...
Salix, Bodhi, AntiX, Simply Mepis, and 6 others....all in this past week.
Not-so-good mounts....Mint 14, PCLinuxOS, and another Pinguy install that went bad. All I did is formatt the USB Before running USB installer to put the ISO on....

So, the Desktop that was refusing to get loaded with any linux system had about 6 diff. ones loaded on it.....its now running Pinguy. Its slower that my laptop, but theres no windowsxpbull to put up with....
Again, thanky guys! I had just thrown a old sheet over the Dell, and decided to attack it last week.
