O.K.
I would appreciate some advice here.
I downloaded ( via synaptic ) gufw.
Problem?
It appears to be linked to pipelight-each time I start-up ,there is no firewall Iconn, just a firewall configuration that I have to reset every time.
O.K. I can get it up and running , but I thought the whole point of a firewall was to enable it ready configured at start-up?
Before anyone says I don't need a firewall with linux , this is my Uncles lappie and I love him dearly so I don't want anything to happen to it as a consequence of my carelessness so please just help me out here guys.
Why is this connected to WINE?
Is this Canonical's doing or what?
Do I actually need WINE on my system at all?
Will removing it affect my configuration?
Can I activate gufw without it as I never needed to before?
p.s. call me parranoid, but if this is Canonicals doing , why are they doing it?
Are they inviting in the NSA via a backdoor in WINE or programs loaded via WINE?
OK guys,
I sorted the firewall problem by getting rid of docky and installing Cairo-dock, Then I added firewall configuration icon to cairo-dock and all is kosher.
Still not to sure about this pipelight thingy.Could it be the cause of a lot of bugs?
I would appreciate some advice here.
