Skiilsoft + Java

I have in the past used Crunchbang and had problems using the skillsoft website on it. I on recommendation of a friend moved to pinguy and have at this point had an awesome time with the package and my hat is taken off to the guys whom have designed it.

Ok so now my problem when I try and load the skillsoft page I am getting asked for all the right permissions need to run it but the last page hangs. I have a feeling that it is my java plug in that is a little out of date and was wondering if anyone could be kind enough to point me in the direction of a step by step guide as to how I can up date them or reinstall them. As this website is core to my studies and I no longer own a windows system it would be awesome to sort this problem out as it means no more running to the in-laws to use there computer or to the local library.
