I downloaded 14.04 64 bit Pinguy and noticed that when running it live from my usb pen it was downloading hundreds of megs. Not being an expert I have no idea what was doing it. I checked that the MD5 sum was correct and installed it to my HD with the expectation that all would be sorted eventually. However, after running it and rebooting it a number of times, and after disabling all of the startup programs my last startup resulted in 600 MB downloaded after about an hour with no apps running. WTF? Any advice greatly appreciated.
