I installed PinguyOS 14.04 LTS 64-Bit and the Nvidia-Settings values do not seem to be retained upon rebooting.
I applied the settings and they took effect as when I ok'ed them. I also saved the setting to /etc/X11/xorg.conf as I have in the past. I have two LCD monitors, one in front of me connected via DVI and the other off to the right via VGA. The BIOS appears to want the VGA to be default and I saw no BIOS setting to change the priority. The DVI cable won't reach, so I can not switch cables. The monitor in front of me has a feature I need to have, so switching them isn't helpful.
I found a post in the Linux Mint forums which suggested adding a new entry in Startup Applications which started nvidia-settings with a load-only parameter.
This is the post I followed:

It did not seem to do as I wished, so I tried going to the Systems Settings / Display menu and tried that. I want to disable the monitor on the right most of the time. I was able to accomplish that so the menu appears on the monitor in front of me. The Conky display is still on the right monitor (no image shows since it is disabled). If I go into Nvidia-Settings and disable it, both the menu and Conky display as I want it to do. It is not retained upon rebooting.
Any help would be welcomed.
