Hello people.
Followed mr Wolfmans tutorial to no avail...
here:"http://forum.pinguyos.com/Thread-How-To-keep-your-system-up-to-date?pid=18814#pid18814"
something is not quite right with my updates , even though i followed the instructions.
quote:
Code: [Select All]
sudo rm -r /var/lib/apt/lists/*
Then:
Code: [Select All]
sudo apt-get update
unquote
This is the output on synaptic :
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/repository.spotify.com_dists_stable_non-free_i18n_Translation-en%5fGB
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
this leads me to think spotify has something to do with this????
ubuntu software centre fails to open (it just buffers and disappears)
synaptic gives error
terminal output upon trying to remove spotify client:
"
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/repository.spotify.com_dists_stable_non-free_i18n_Translation-en%5fGB

"
so now I'm lost.
any help would be much appreciated.
should i just ignore as suggested by you in Wolfman's tutorial?
quote:
"The other option is to simply ignore them which won't make them go away, but it still works for me!!."

or am i being dim?
apologies if this thread sould have been linked to an existing one
Thank you
