I just reinstalled Pinguy and went to the Ubuntu Software Center to download the new Dropbox version. There was a dialog box saying I needed to uninstall nemo, so I did just that and went to install Dropbox. But the installer got stuck and I had to close and reopen the Software Center. Google tells me this is a common problem, so I decided to reinstall the outdated nemo and get the update via terminal, as I saw here in the forums.
Problem is the Dropbox download is still stuck, and to download nemo from the Software Center I need to uninstall nautilus. Again, I'm practically a beginner, so I don't know of anything that would remove whatever it is I have installed from the Software Center that's hanging, or if it's better to replace nautilus with nemo (confession: I will have to Google those to find out what they are) and install the updates via terminal. Thoughts?
Update: Dropbox has the green check mark in my Software Center (that means it's installed properly, right?), and I was able to sign in from my desktop.
Problem: At first, the Dropbox folder under my username doesn't have any of the files I have there. It was empty. Then I saw the little Dropbox icon at the top of the desktop, clicked on it, and got the folder with the files. But not all of them. The ones that are there are the pdf and document files. The audio files aren't. In case this is important, I migrated from Windows and my Dropbox account is currently synced with an Android device.
Update 2: Never mind. Turns out my computer was just slow.
