BUG - missing libqt5webenginewidgets5-dev library

$

In Synaptic Package Manager one can find

libqt5webengine5
libqt5webengine5-dev
libqt5websockets5
libqt5websockets5-dev
libqt5webenginewidgets5

but there is no libqt5webenginewidgets5-dev

This means any program, even the Qt 5 examples which includes
QT += webenginewidgets
in the .pro file cannot be cleanly loaded in QtCreator
Project ERROR: Unknown module(s) in QT: webenginewidgets

It also means none of them can build. This is probably helped out by all of the qt -examples now being separate files so missing pieces can slip through easier.

See attachment for WebEngine Widgets Simple Browser example screen shot. Not only is the -dev library missing, but the example packaging has broken dependency since it needs to list ___ALL___ dependencies, especially the ones required to compile the example.

I have added it, I have made sure it is executable, but it just does not work. No doubt I am doing something wrong. Any help is most appreciated... Thanks In advance!

Feedback and issue on Xubuntu 18.10

Dear developer,

Thank you for the wonderful tool I appreciate the effort you are putting into it to make it the best tool available so far. However let me give u my feedback

I am using latest version 5.1.8

Mitn19 worked well except for the grub image after installation never worked if u run the live u get the custom image but if u install u get ubuntu image which is not mint or mine Smile!

I decided to move my distro and base it on xubuntu 18.10 XFCE when I tried to build the iso with 5.1.8 I got the following errors:

- xubuntu 18.10 becomes very very slow un responsive when u boot it!
- Grub not found on boot message
- few more errors
- while building you get cryptsetup error
- /etc/apt/sources/*not found

I thought maybe I try 5.1.7
- on building with this non of the errors showed up
- on the end pythong showed many errors!
- At the live iso boot up was same very very slow un responsive very difficult to move the mouse!

Note all images I tried of Xubuntu are fresh no any packages were installed except pinguy and its dependencies

Its very important for me to get it working on xubuntu 18.10 XFCE based am I using the wrong version or do you have something coming up ?

Again you did great job jeep it up Smile

Ubiquity Desktop installer icon not available for Installation

I have installed Linux Mint 19 on my system and done some updates / installation of software that we use as a standard within our organisation.

Initially, Pinguy Builder would NOT make an ISO of greater than 35K. After putting in "deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ tara romeo" in the "official-packages-repositories.list" file in /etc/apt/sources.d/, the program generated an ISO of 2.5GB.

Installing this to a USB driver and booting with this ISO, gave the login for the user but after logging in, did not give the install icon in the Desktop of the logged in user.

During the "Backup" option process, I noticed the following messages:

" Installing the Ubiquity GTK frontend
sed: can't read /usr/share/applications/ubiquity.desktop: No such file or directory

Then:
sed: can't read /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
sed: can't read /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
sed: can't read /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory

And:
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line301: /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line302: /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line303 /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line306: /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line310: /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line311: /usr/share/ubiquity/apt-setup: No such file or directory

After this, the program proceeds, with a few warnings:
/usr/bin/PinguyBuilder" line564: warning: command substitution: ignored null byte in input

and the same message repeated for lines 566, 568, 570, 572

What do I need to do to get the Install icon on the desktop?

Also, going to the "User Settings" to select the user whose home directory will be backed up, selecting a user and clicking on OK, just results in a dialog box saying "Copying files" and this does not stop.

Thanks for your help

The situation is that most of those are really KetoFit anyways. From time to time it's like being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. We can do it in the blink of an eye. You may reckon that I'm chomping at the bit. The following three made my list. You might need to do a little bit of research before you begin your next KetoFit project. It will be developed by experts. It is how to end being bothered and be happy about your KetoFit. I don't need to be bull headed.

Pinguy Scripting

Greetings!
First I wanted to thank the developers and contributors to Pinguy OS and Pinguy Builder for all their hard work.

I have two questions that may have been answered in a previous thread:
First, is there a way to specify the version the ubiqiuti installer uses? I'm assuming it pulls from lsb_release?

Is it possible to have a PinguyBuilder built system run a specific script on it's first boot?

Thank you!

AndroDNA Testo Boost gave them a new lease on life. I was watching a 7 o'clock news show on AndroDNA Testo Boost recently. I discovered that AndroDNA Testo Boost is as well built as the others. How can you make certain that if you used AndroDNA Testo Boost to detract from AndroDNA Testo Boost? I was thinking the same fact in reference to AndroDNA Testo Boost more than once. This is how to quit worrying as to AndroDNA Testo Boost. That is objectionable. Why do subordinates trip into that trap? It doesn't really matter whether you are using AndroDNA Testo Boost or a more traditional AndroDNA Testo Boost. They moved this to a secret location. How do mavens encounter seasonal AndroDNA Testo Boost schedules? This in spite of the fact that a AndroDNA Testo Boost that quells a medium for a AndroDNA Testo Boost. At any rate, this means that I'm going back to AndroDNA Testo Boost. In spite of that, I'm type of young. You might have to take the time to find an overused AndroDNA Testo Boost is that it needs more from AndroDNA Testo Boost. I'm going to do the same for AndroDNA Testo Boost yet don't let AndroDNA Testo Boost foster a distaste for AndroDNA Testo Boost.

pinguybuilder script messed up all language-settings in xubuntu 18.04.1 installation

perdrix wrote on 27-12-2016 that pinguybuilder deleted entries in the /etc/apt/ directory. Ist this happening in the current versions (5.1.Cool too? Is that the reason, my installation of xubuntu-18.04.1 looses all language-settings after the pinguybuilder script has run its course? Unfortunately, the developer has not rsponded to that post yet. Similar problems were reported by other users (spanish/portugese and french users). When a person needs to do a backup, he/she wouldn't expect this from the tool. Any help is most welcome!

Live CD on MacBook a disaster

OK so this is not a help request, just a number of observations.

I got an obsolete MacBook 5.2 which I wanted to install a custom linux on. Doing that was no problem but I want to supply a custom install cd when I sell it so the next user has no problems. I installed Ubuntu Mate 18.04.1 and then tweaked is with the Pantheon theme to make it more like Mac OS, and installed Arc themes, and Papirus icons, picked a nice wallpaper plus changed out Firefox with Chrome - job done a very nice modern look and feel.

So then I made a distro (the one for friends etc, second option), using Pinguybuilder.

That seemed to go well but then the issues started.
1. When I booted into the live CD none of my theme changes or background came thru and the panels had reverted to mate default, although I could see the installed theme, icons etc were included in the OS, just not used.
2. Install seemed to go fine, but when I rebooted, I ended up with a black screen just showing a GNU_Grub 2.2 welcome info and a grub prompt.
3. Not only that, when I then tried to reinstall standard Ubuntu Mate afterwards the install failed because the disk space was too small (32 MB reported) but the HDD is 160 GB.
Once I got into that issue it seemed like no amount of reformatting or linux gparted partition deleting and creating would solve the issue. The only thing that worked was using the Mac OSX install dvd to repair the disk.

This pattern repeated itself every time I tried to install a Pinguybuilt live cd. But not when I just installed one ubuntu standard distro after another so it seems to be something about the Pinguybuilder livecd install that messes up the hard disk somehow in an unusual way. (as well as not booting and not keeping user themes etc) I have tried versions 5.1-7 and 5.1-8 with no luck.

HP OMEN ce018np issues - PinguyOS 18.04.1

I wished to give it a new try with the latest 18.04 version you have on SF.

The official specs are at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05682497

  1. This is a dual-boot system with MS Windows 10 and, hopefully, PinguyOS
  2. On laptop I have the following partitioning:
    • EFI partition on SDD (where Windows has its EFI and where the /boot/EFI should be)
    • MS Windows 10 partition (C:)
    • /boot partition ext2 on SDD
    • /partition ext4 on SDD
    • MS Windows Users and data partition on HDD (D:)
    • MS Windows Recovery HDD (E:)
    • /home partition on HDD
    • /var partition on HDD

First, it can only boot if I choose noapic acpi=off on kernel loading
After that PinguyOS installed but...
  1. On install the installer allowed me to define the EFI partition but didn't allowed me to set it as the place where /boot/EFI should be installed
  2. On boot it won't boot at all. I had to go to BIOS to start it from Windows EFI

All other distros I tried have different issues but all allowed me to define /boot/EFi on the existing EFI partition

Using Boot Repair was not an option hence it destroyed the Windows boot and I had to recover it later.

How can I solve this?

No GRUB on EFI partition after install

Just reposting here this issue so people can find it too.

System with dual-boot system with MS Windows 10 and, hopefully, PinguyOS
System has two disks: a SSD and a HDD. EFI partition is on the SSD.

On laptop I have the following partitioning:

  1. EFI partition on SDD (where Windows has its EFI and where the /boot/EFI should be)
  2. MS Windows 10 partition (C:)
  3. /boot partition ext2 on SDD
  4. /partition ext4 on SDD
  5. MS Windows Users and data partition on HDD (D:)
  6. MS Windows Recovery HDD (E:)
  7. /home partition on HDD
  8. /var partition on HDD

Results after installing:

  1. On install the installer allowed me to define the EFI partition but didn't allowed me to set it as the place where /boot/EFI should be installed
  2. On boot it won't boot at all. I had to go to BIOS to start it from Windows EFI

Errors installing iso on Ubuntu 18.04

Hi,

First of all I'd like to say thanks for this tool. I think it'll be perfect for our application.

I was able to generate an ISO and boot up a VM using it. This was very straightforward. However when I tried to install the image, Ubiquity would always fail at the end when updating the initial ramdisk.

Quote:dpkg: error processing initramfs-tools (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
initramfs-tools
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

There was also a warning about the swap file.

After digging around I came up with a fix which seems to get the install to work:
  • I removed /etc/kernel/postinst.d/x-grub-legacy-ec2
  • I commented out the RESUME line in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume

Does anyone know why it was necessary to make these changes, and what problems, if any, my fixes are likely to cause?

I am new to Pinguy. I have tried clicking on the Software button and nothing happens other than a colored circle spins on the screen and then disappears. Thoughts? Thank you.
