To get better performance in Pinguy OS 13.10 you can install the Mesa 10.0 drivers and the 3.12 kernel.

In the repos is the Liquorix kernel. Open Synaptic and search for "liquorix" then install the "image" and "header" for your platform.
Once installed close Synapic and run these commands in the Terminal.
Warning: This may stop the graphics from working so do this at your own discretion.
Now reboot.
You will now be running Kenrel 3.12 and Mesa 10.
