Display issue

Hello. I have just installed pinguy on a PC hooked to a 51 inch flat screen tv. It is connected from intel IVY bridge Pentium mobo through a Nvidia Geforce Gt 240 graphics card through a HDMI interface which goes through a Denon receiver and then to the TV.

The login screen looks fine. Big, but fine. When the desktop starts, everything is there, but the "system information" panel for lack of the correct term does not size properly. It appears as though the temp is displayed over the top of where it says "Pinguy OS 14.xx so on so forth"

The display setting seems correct at 1920 by 1080 which is the resolution of the TV. Is there a way to resize that "system information" panel/panels??? Another thing I've noticed is that with some windows that pop up when I'm looking at settings menus is that I have to "grab" the window to get to the side or bottom of it with the "alt" button depressed.

Is there a simple fix to all of this? I suspect there is a setting or two that will correct these problems. Please advise.

Regards,
Kurt Fitzenreiter
