Will a reinstall help to counter a bunch of problems w/ POS 14.04 - I have?

Hi there,

I a lot of issues w/ Pinguy OS 14.04 ranging from hibernation not working (which is a deal breaker for me), graphic issues, crashes, and so on...

So - I will give it a go and reinstall Pinguy 14,04 from scratch - if possible.
home partition
I do have a home partition ..I want to keep. I know there many ways to handle that - but what might be best as of course carried all the config files over from Pinguy 12.04 to 14.04... which might not have been the best of ideas?
Do I clean it before...or do I start of w/ no home partition...and just later incorporate it as /home...somehow?

Any suggestions from you how to handle that?
I am aware there a lot opinions out there...

Any suggestion?
