USBASP Programmer

I have a USBasp programmer that I use for programming my quadcopter flight control board but when I run the programmer I get an error report saying that the USBasp is not recognized
When I run LSUSB.it is listed, can anyone give me some help on this so that when I run this programmer it is recognized in Pinguy.
