Beginner problams

OK, so ive got a new install or Pinguy (never really used Linux before) but ive ran into a few problems. now im sure some, or all, of the things im having problams are simple fixes but like i said, i dont have any experience with Linux really.

So first off, the readout thing on the desktop on the right had side, its only giving my my system usage info and processing that are running nothing else, do i need to set this up?

Second is a problem im having with steam, i have most of my games on other drives, when i try and add the folders it just says "new steam libary folder must be on a filesystem mounted with execute permissions"

Third is i have a Corsair K40 keyboard and a R.A.T 3 mouse. i cant change the backlight on the keyboard, the media keys work fine tho. As for the mouse it works for awhile then i cant click anything, swapped out for a old "basic" mouse and that works fine.

Fourth is that im using a 4K monitor but have to set it to 1080 as i cant find the scaling options.

I do realise that these problems are probably easy solves for most of you but im still getting to grips with Pinguy atm.

Installing pinguy in Mac mini

Hi.
Please, can you recommend a guide to install Pinguy in a Mac mini?

The Mac mini runs with OS 10.6.8. What Pinguy version would be right? Can I totally delete Mac partition?

Pinguybuilder liveCD asks for user/password at login

Hi,
I successfully used Pinguybilder 4.3.8 with Xubuntu 1604 to remaster my system.
But after the last system update 1st week of november, the builder didn't work properly any longer: it produces a ISO file, but installed on a USB the live system always asks for a user/password.
I suspect it is because lightdm is updated to a new version. I also tried to remaster my system without the last system update, and it worked flawlessly. Then I tried to update selectively without updating lightdm, but it didn't work either, maybe because there are some dependencies and the old lightdm cannot work anymore.
Is there some solution to this problem?

Building with Dist option doesn't include themes?

Hello.

I am using Pinguy builder on Linux Mint17.3.
I put some themes and icons to make Mint look better for me.

when I create the ISO with the Backup action it work fine, but when I create the ISO with the Dist the action, the default look of Linux Mint shows up, so it did not remember my setting for the Icons and themes.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Trouble upadating

I get the following message every time I update. I'm having issues with Chrome and Firefox that may be attributed to this message. Is there any way to fix it?

Unable to boot live DVD (HP BIOS)

So I downloaded and then burned .iso file using windows 10 built in ISO interface. After that I changed boot sequence in BIOS prioritising CD/DVD boot, but I am still unable to see DVD boot option in boot device options. I tried all the other options but none of them is working. Im not sure now if the live DVD that I burned is bootable, or if there is problem in BIOS settings. I'm using HP Probook laptop, thus HP BIOS.

Does anyone have an idea where might be a problem? It's probably something stupid but I can't figure out what it is.

iso creation failed

Hi,
I tried to make a backup on my system (Lubuntu/Ubuntu 16.04), but for some reason even though Pinguy Builder finished without any error message, it didn't create an .iso file... what could have went wrong?

Restore GNOME 3.4.2 full desktop

Recently I managed to "break" the Pingy GNOME desktop, in that, when I log on using the GNOME option, tray at the top of the screen is no longer present, nor does docky appear at the bottom of the screen. While I can begin applications that are represented by desktop icons, I have no menu for starting those that are not.

I am able to log on using the GNOME classic (no effects) option; hence I can make this post, but I miss the "bells and whistles" particularly the unlimited number of screens of the full GNOME desktop that I was using, so I hope that someone in the community can provide me directions on how to repair the GNOME desktop without my having to do a full re-intstal of Pinguy.

The System Monitor reports that I am using the version of Pinguy based upon release 12.04 (precise), 64 bit, with GNOME 3.4.2 .
