Hello, everybody,
since I have been using the Pinguy-ISO-Builder for a long time and would like to do so for Ubuntu versions 19.04 and later, I was looking for a simple solution to install and use it also in the future.
At the moment the PinguyBuilder cannot be installed, because it depends on python-vte which was removed in Ubuntu 19.04. WolfLand has posted that the python GUI has to be completely redone for GTK3, which will probably take some time.
As a workaround, I have now put together a menu-based version of the PinguyBuilder. I've removed the python parts (so the corresponding dependencies are not necessary any more).
I did not change the original PinguyBuilder script.
After the installation of the menu-based PinguyBuilder version, in the system's main menu there will be a new submenu called "PinguyBuilder", where the most important functions are accessible.
Of course the PinguyBuilder can also be operated via the command line (as before).
If someone wants to test the menu-based version, feel free to use the deb package in the appendix of this post. You do this at your own risk and I take no responsibility for any damage caused by the installation (disclaimer). Please uninstall all previously installed versions before.
With the menu-based version, the PingyBuilder can at least be installed again. I hope this will also help others who want to continue using PinguyBuilder.
Feedback is welcome and desired.
Kind regards,
kjoe
